A little while ago Will Wright, creator of the Sims and Spore, was a guest at Comedy Central's Colbert Report. In the interview he talked a little bit about Spore, and even more about the Sims. Wright told how the Sims is a game playing a universe in ours, and that the game can also be educational. In part 2 he also talked a little bit about Superstar, and being famous in the Sims world. About Spore he explained the basics of the game, the evolution and wars between gods.

| News: The Sims Stories Revealed |

Although rumours have been floating around for a while now, The Sims Stories has been announced today. This is a new product line of the Sims, which will be focused mostly on new players who are not yet too familiar with the game. The games are not compatible with any expansion or stuff packs of the Sims 2, but each game will be a standalone one. The main new features consist of a story mode, in which you follow a Sims' linear story as The Sims Division made it, but also its laptop-friendliness. Click on Read More for the full story.

Although there's no press release announcement of The Sims Life Stories yet, just an information page, some screenshots of the upcoming Life Stories have already leaked. The screenshots probably show Riley and Vince, as described on the about page, as well as one Create A Sim screenshot. As you can see some objects from Sims 2 expansions are included, like the Nightlife bowling alley or the University guitar. The images were posted by the Czech fan site (unofficial), and supposedly come from EA. The (European) release date of 9 February is also mentioned by the website.  IGN reports that recent speculations about SimCity 5 being in development should not be taken seriously. On French television, Maxis general manager Luc Barthelet said that SimCity 5 is currently in development. However, when Maxis called IGN Maxis stated that they "are focused on shipping The Sims 2 at this time. [...] To read anything into Luc Barthelet's comments is incorrect. [...] Any speculation as to SimCity 5 is premature".

PC owners will get the best deal with Sims 2 Pets coming as an add-on. Console standalone versions are planned too. As you might expect from the name, the game allows player to create and control digital pets within The Sims 2. There are lots of different animals to choose from and each can be configured - altering shape, markings and personality. Pets can be taught tricks and even found a job. And of course looking after animals requires dedication of a disturbed and lonely moggy isn't to wreck your sofa.

 Aspyr Media on Wednesday announced that its latest Sims 2 expansion pack, Open For Business, has reached the Alpha stage of development. At this point, the game is up and running and is one step away from Beta, where final bugs are ironed out before it's declared Gold Master and sent off for manufacturing and shipping.

| News: EA Settles in Overtime Lawsuit for Engineers |

 Back in October of last year EA settled in a class action lawsuit about overtime compensation for Computer Graphics artists. Developers and employees of EA, including at least Sims 2 and the Urbz team members, were not paid for overtime they had to work to get a product finished in time. Now a similar case, filed by computer programmers (engineers) has also been settled. EA will make a payment of $14.9 million, which will need to cover all claims as well as attorney fees, incentive payments and administrative costs of the settlement.  More Family Fun Stuff news, this time specifically for owners of the pack. Not only will they see the icon on the left on their MySims page on the official site, they will also experience a bug with the new clothes. When you use one of the new outfits in Create-A-Sim mode, to dress your Sim, the selected outfit will disappear from the game after restarting it. The Sim (or Sims) will still be wearing the clothes.  Electronic Arts today announced that the signature sound of legendary alternative rock band Depeche Mode has been translated to The Sims native Simlish language for the first time ever. 'Suffer Well,' a popular track from Depeche Mode's critically acclaimed album 'Playing the Angel,' has been recorded in Simlish and will be made available to fans of music and PC games through The Sims 2 Open for Business, the third expansion pack to build on the celebrated The Sims 2 entertainment experience.
