| PC owners will get the best deal with Sims 2 Pets coming as an add-on. Console standalone versions are planned too. As you might expect from the name, the game allows player to create and control digital pets within The Sims 2. There are lots of different animals to choose from and each can be configured - altering shape, markings and personality. Pets can be taught tricks and even found a job. And of course looking after animals requires dedication of a disturbed and lonely moggy isn't to wreck your sofa.

 Aspyr Media on Wednesday announced that its latest Sims 2 expansion pack, Open For Business, has reached the Alpha stage of development. At this point, the game is up and running and is one step away from Beta, where final bugs are ironed out before it's declared Gold Master and sent off for manufacturing and shipping.

 More Family Fun Stuff news, this time specifically for owners of the pack. Not only will they see the icon on the left on their MySims page on the official site, they will also experience a bug with the new clothes. When you use one of the new outfits in Create-A-Sim mode, to dress your Sim, the selected outfit will disappear from the game after restarting it. The Sim (or Sims) will still be wearing the clothes.
